IDRAC 5000_7: SNMP settings of the device could not be configured because of an unexpected error.

All of my SupportAssist Enterprise clients with IDRAC 9 are not communicating due to an SNMP error. Dell Support has advised me to downgrade the firmware to version 3.21.26.22 until the SupportAssist app is patched. I am currently running version 2.0.10.13. Does anyone know when the update will be released?

Hi Rodog55,

right now I can't tell you when a next patch will be released - I simply don't have the information.

And another question is if this will be solved with an iDRAC or SAE update.

You updated the iDRAC and then the communication stopped or did the SAE update and the communication stopped?

Can you get me this information, please?

Thanks and happy Friday
Stefan

The IDRAC firmware update stopped the communication. bryan.massey@dell.com was the Dell engineer who identified the issue and recommended downgrading the IDRAC firmware to fix the SNMP communication with the IDRAC 9 cards. I did downgrade one server to version FDMV1_WN64_3.21.26.22_A00_01 and the communication was restored.

Hi Rodogg55,

thanks, so it seems to be an issue regarding the iDRAC firmware update not with the SupportAssist Enterprise version.
iDRAC versions are more often updated than the SupportAssist application ^^
Shouldn't take too long until a newer version is released.

Cheers

There have been two IDRAC 9 firmware updates since the version that is stable with SNMP. Neither have fixed the problem. It sounds to me like you are saying I should go ahead and downgrade the IDRAC firmware on all of the XL R740xd servers since SAE is not updated very often. SAE's monitoring features work much better with the IDRAC than the system.

Hi,

out-of-band is the better choice, indeed!

That's why I recommend going this way in order to use the iDRAC instead of the operating system. For now, you may use the downgrade option in order to use the monitoring until we fixed the issue.

Cheers

I notice that my SupportAssist Enterprise is at Version 2.0.21.93 now. Did this update take care of the iDRAC firmware version 3.32.32.32 working with SAE.

Hi,

Nope, I still don't think that SAE is the issue here, we need to wait for the next iDRAC update.

Ok Stefan we have yet another IDRAC firmware update (3.34.34.34) and again SAE fails on SNMP. It sounds like you are in denial over the obvious fact that SAE is the problem. I am glad that I just updated one server. Now I only have to downgrade one server back to 3.21.26.22 since that is the only version that is stable in the SAE environment.

The new IDRAC firmware (3.34.34.34) is now showing up in OME as critical. I just started receiving OMSA and IDRAC warnings (SWC5008 Unable to access Front LED Panel because of a hardware error condition). Dell support says this can be fixed by the IDRAC firmware update which now breaks SAE.

SAE is an integral part of my support plan. I have over 60 Avigilon surveillance servers to manage. They are responsible for digital video to monitor break-ins and all activity in our schools related to legal liability.

Dell needs to fix SAE ASAP.

Hi Rodog55,

you're completely right, it's an issue within SAE. Due to changes in iDRACs firmware SAE needs to be updated now. SupportAssist team is working on it as we speak but we don't have a release date right now, I'm afraid.

Only thing I can ask you for is patience, as soon as there is a new SupportAssist version this particular issue will be solved.

Thanks for being patient!

Best regards,
Stefan

Any update on this one?

I recently setup 6 new Dell XC740 servers, the iDRAC was patched to 3.32.32.32 and Support Assist is unable to set SNMP settings. I'm running Support Assist version 2.0.21.93

My other servers are running iDRAC 3.21.23.22 and are working fine.
