Adding second ESX host to an existing masking view
Hello folks,
I have the need to add a second ESX host to an existing masking view and was wondering the best approach.
currently i have one masking view named ATERNITY_MV with one Port group OS_1F0_16F0_5F0_12F0 and one storage group name ATERNITY_SG.
the initiator group is name PHX_VMW_463_IG with the two wwn's in it.
my question is do i just add the new server wwn's to the existing IG group and change the name or is there a better way?

Joe,
Good question...there's a couple ways you could go about doing this.
Ideally, you would probably want to do this using cascaded IG's; however, implementing that now would interrupt the operation of the host that currently running using this MV.
One option, as you suggest, would be to add the initiators from the additional host to the existing IG. Ensure that your IG gets renamed to something representative of what it actually contains to prevent future confustion.
Second option would be to create a new MV using the proper SG and PG along with an IG that contained only the host to add.

how about converting original IG to cascading IG online? i have a VMAX 20K running 5876 code.
