Can we split clone pair in DMX-4 5773 code

I am cloning from R2 device.

0478 is RDF2+Mir

0EAF is BCV+R-5 ( clone targer)

R1 and R2 pair is split.

Clone pair is in copied state.

When I try split clone pair using DG, symclone -g clone_test_dg split, it gives the following error message.

"Cannot perform the operation because the device is not in a valid state"

Could you please let me know where I am wrong. I obsered client is using script for anothe device group, it works fine.

Hi Yere,

Hope you are doing well. do you have R1 or R2 local invalids? Did you use -precopy option while creating the session?

Saurabh

Hey Saurabh,

Thanks I am doing good, how are you.

We don't have invalids, but clone session is created with precopy option

as mentioned. Client is using script below are the steps in the script.

1. Create clone session with precopy.

2. Once precopy is at 100%, split R1 and R2 ( I guess this step is

not required)

3. Activate clone session.

4. Once session status is copied, next step clone session split.

As per the script it was happened all these days, only from yesterday we

are facing this issue. I tried the same procedure manually without

script, but unable to split

Is there a failed disk?

ok, paste the TF query and SRDF query output. If possible, capture the debug while spliting the clone and send it to me. Send it to my gmail

Can we disable "Prevent Automatic RDF Link Recovery" option for RDFG

group on 5773 with SE 7.1.

D:\dmx\sdt24dbho2_dg>symrdf -sid 301 -rdfg 21 set rdfg

-autolink_recovery on -both_sides

'rdfg': Invalid keyword.

Hi

1.     Create clone session with  precopy.

2.     Once precopy is at 100%, split R1 and R2 ( I guess this step is not required)

3.     Activate clone session. ==> Activating the clone session will normally make your target clone device as RW and host can access the target clone LUN. Why we need step 4?

4.     Once session status is copied, next step clone session split. ==> Your clone session should be in restored state if you want to perform Split. You can't split the clone session when it is in copied state.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks

Thanks Govind, I did it manually by moving the RDF pairs, deleting the

RDF group and re creating RDFG group with auto link recovery option.

I just found this on the Primus

Environment: EMC SW: EMC Solutions Enabler SYMCLI 7.2
Problem: Cannot set parameter "auto_link_recovery" on.
Problem: symrdf -sid 277 -rdfg 199 set auto_link_recovery on -both_sides
Problem: The requested feature is not supported for this microcode or SYMAPI version
Change: Trying to set "auto_link_recovery" parameter ON on dynamic RDF pair.
Fix: Automatic Recovery mode is RDF group-level attribute. The feature ensures devices that were ready to their host before a link failure are automatically restored to a ready state once the link is up and running.

This is a new option which is available from micro code version 5875 and above and not in 5874, but in the document its not
