DMX800 is the "entry level" of previous DMX family (referred as DMX1 and DMX2)... Any DMX4 will be an upgrade from your existing DMX800 however it can be a step higher or a quantum leap, depending on the model you are buying. DMX4 have faster processors and recent codes (offering more features).

DMX4 offers different/better protection to your data (RAID6)
DMX4 offers more RDF group
DMX4 offers better remote protection (SRDF/Cascading)
DMX4 offers virtual provisioning

Depending on DMX4 model you may have also better connectivity to your hosts, better scalability (more drives, more cache) thus better performances.

Swapping your old box with a new one you pay less our support (it's included with the brand new DMX4). Support for your existing DMX800 isn't free, trust me :-) .

As you can see there are technical reasons but also economical reasons .. :D

This list is far from being complete .. anyone please help me in listing key features offered by DMX4 that older boxes don't offer... :D
