Best way to get OMSA to send an email alert?

So I guess I don't see the point of OMSA not being able to send email alerts since I'm certaily not going to manually log into dozens of servers every day just in case one has a problem.  So, I'm looking for how to get notified if something goes down.

I've search and found lots of different examples of various types of scripts that will allow an email to be sent via the Launch Application type option within OMSA.  Is there any one of these scripts that are known to work better than others?  Is there an official unofficial script to use for this sort of thing?  Is there some way to get email alerts without having to use a 3rd party script?

Just looking for any way to get some sort of notification when OMSA detects something is wrong.
