Failing to update iSM LC DUP v3.5.1
We have OpenManageEnterprise (New OME) and the firmware compliance reports show that some servers (PE 320 and PE 440) have a version of iSM LC DUP that is too low (3.4.0 compared to 3.5.0). I download the correct executable from the Dell website (Systems-Management_Application_C4NXJ_WN64_3.5.1_A00.exe) but when I try to upgrade it, it fails with a "Unable to complete the firmware update operation because the specified firmware image is for a component that is not in the target system inventory" error. Everything else is updated to the latest version. An older executable (Systems-Management_Application_2VJ25_WN64_3.4.1_A00.exe) installs fine. I know it is not critical but it would be good to get the firmware compliance report to be warning free. The host OS is Windows 2016 x64 core. Thanks

There are 2 type of iSM DUP. "Systems-Management_Application_C4NXJ_WN64_3.5.1_A00.exe" is OS DUP. To use this you need to run this from server operating system. This DUP will not work on iDRAC. If you need to install iSM 3.5.1 on iDRAC you need to use iSM LC DUP. You can download iSM LC DUP for 3.5.1 version from below location
https://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER06183783M/1/Systems-Management_Application_1K45F_WN64_3.5.1_A00.EXE
Note : I am not sure whether above DUP is supported on PE 320

Hello @john.harris,
I think the 3.5.0 is just the next version from 3.40 so it is not too low. The iDRAC Service Module is OS dependent.
I suggest you to try a different download link, please check this options:
Dell EMC iDRAC Service Module for Windows, v3.5.1
Dell EMC iDRAC Service Module OS DUP, v3.5.1
Dell iDRAC Service Module 2.5.1 (For Windows)
Not sure why but there are three different download links for this firmware.
Regards.

Hello Diego
Thanks for your message. The first link is for a Windows installer and I wanted to do the update via the iDRAC. The second link is for a DUP (which I can use from the iDRAC) that failed - see my original post (Systems-Management_Application_C4NXJ_WN64_3.5.1_A00.exe). Maybe I will try to copy the Windows installer to the core server and try and run it locally.

Thanks Shine, that worked beautifully. It is now showing as 'Dell EMC iDRAC Service Module Embedded Package v3.5.1, A00' rather than 'iDRAC Service Module Embedded Package, v3.4.1, A00'. Thanks again

Thank you very much, I also needed this update !
On the other hand, why does it not appear on the DELL download site even with the service tag provided ?
Impossible to find it without your help...
Even in Openmanage, the link for this update (iSM LC DUP) is not valid (the problem was the same with the v3.5.0)
The link :

Hello,
The 3.6 version of iSM LC DUP has been released.
Anyone have the link to download it please ?
Besides, I ask the question again: why does it not appear on the DELL download site even with the service tag provided?
Thanks for your help !

Hello @Michael LTD,
Here you have the OS DUP version (for windows):
https://dell.to/2MBxib9
And the iSM LC DUP:
https://dell.to/3pNZaqT
What server model are you using to look for it in the drivers site? Please, check this table: Supported platforms on iDRAC Service Module
https://dell.to/3trOD76
Regards.

Dear Shine and Diego,
I'm a new customer of three R7525 servers.
And i had the same problem as Michael LTD.
The Problem is that you get under Diego's link another file that from Shine's link!
iSM LC DUP (from Diego):
https://dell.to/3pNZaqT
Offers following file: Systems-Management_Application_HXH78_WN64_3.6.0_A00_03.EXE
This file is also offered via the servers support page too (support page via service-tag)!
But if I want to upload and install this file via "iDRAC- Maintenance - Systemupdate" you get the following message:
Unable to complete the firmware update operation because the specified firmware image is for a component that is not in the target system inventory.
And if I follow Shine's link:
https://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER06876968M/2/
Offers following file: Systems-Management_Application_MPG0M_WN64_3.6.0_A00_01.EXE
And this file is not offered via the servers support page!
If I use Shine's linked file "Systems-Management_Application_MPG0M_WN64_3.6.0_A00_01.EXE" it works.
So all customers who want to update the ism on idrac itself, doesn't get offered the correct update-file on the service-support-page!
Please fix this ;).
BR New Customer from Germany.
