ITA 8.9.0 deleting some servers

Hi All,

I have noticed some servers are being deleted by ITA. The servers all are W2K8R2 x64. That is the only common thing I see among them so far. The entry in the log indicates a MAC address issue. Here is a sample log entry where one was deleted:

Friday, November 25, 2011 8:13:03 AM EST  A duplicate device has been detected. Device (name: wit398.xxxx.xxx.xxxx, ip address: , internal ID: 1091422546) was deleted because the MAC Address: 0000000000000000 was discovered on another device (device name: wit445.xxxx.xxx.xxxxx, ip address: xx.xx.x.xxx, internal ID: -1).

The machine it references as the duplicate (WIT445) is our ITA server which is a VM. This has happened randomly to about 5 different servers. They rediscover fine and are added back to the inventory, but who know when they will disappear again.

Can anyone help with a solution to this issue?

ITA 8.9.0 installed on W2K8R2 x64 virtual server.

Bowhuntr09,

What you need to do is go to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\SysMgt\ITAssistant\configuration\dconfig.ini

Once you open that, find this line - PRIVATE_MAC_EXCLUDE_LIST=

You will see in the body of the line (this is an example, so not the same as you have)

PRIVATE_MAC_EXCLUDE_LIST=127.0.0.1,0.0.0.0,005345000000,33506F453030,505054503030,0000FFFFFFFF,204153594EFF,000000000000,00000000000000e0,020054554e01,204153594eff

You will see twelve 0's in the line (in the example it is 204153594EFF,000000000000,)

Add four 0's to those twelve for a total of sixteen. Save the file.

After that then restart the ITA services and it will resolve the issue for you.

Let me know if you have any other issues.

Thanks. Changes made as requested, will watch it for a few days and see if that solved the issues and report back.
