R710 bootable update iso failure

I've used this process to update other powerdge firmware with no problem: http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/04/sln296511/updating-dell-poweredge-servers-via-bootable-media-iso?lang=en http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/04/sln296810/creating-a-bootable-usb-device-with-rufus-for-updating-dell-poweredge-servers?lang=en

Attempts to do the same for an R710 using the Feb 2 2018 iso @ https://dell.app.box.com/v/BootableR710 fail with errors below after booting from the usb stick. Got same errors booting the stick from a Dell desktop as well just for testing.  Tried recreating the stick from a new iso download on another pc also using Rufus as well.  Suggestions are appreciated.

answering my own question for anyone else that runs into this.  From https://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/04/sln296810/creating-a-bootable-usb-device-with-rufus-for-updating-dell-poweredge-servers?lang=en

Warning: Currently we are facing an issue with using the ISOs on USB. If possible, use one of the other options to update your system (Virtual Media function of iDRAC or an Optical Media). If this is not possible, follow the solution steps in the Release Notes to solve the issue (Keep in mind to use the USB source instead of cdrom in the provided command).

From recent release notes @  https://dell.app.box.com/v/BootableReleaseNotes

To apply the updates when one of the above is received, perform the following:
1.:
Press + to access a new console
2.:
Press to access a command prompt
3.:
Type “mount /dev/cdrom /opt/dell/toolkit/systems” and press
NOTE: Depending on your configuration the device name can vary, e.g. /dev/cdrom1
4.:
Type “./opt/dell/toolkit/systems/drm_files/apply_bundles.sh” and press
5.:
The apply_bundles.sh script will begin executing as follows:

Thanks!  This helped me out, but I did have some minor issues still.  /dev/cdrom[n] wasn't found, so I ran

blkid -o list

in order to show the devices available.  In my case, the USB drive was present as /dev/sdc1 (matched by the vfat filesystem and the CDROM label that Rufus has set.)
