Resetting iDRAC without Rebooting Using Chassis Management Controller

The Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC) is a complete hardware and software solution for remote systems management. It is completely independent of the server and allows you to access an inoperable system and restore it to operating status. iDRAC also alerts administrators of server issues, helps them perform remote server management, and reduces the need for physical access to the server.

You may need to reset the iDRAC in some cases, such as when:

• iDRAC cards do not respond.
• iDRAC settings, such as the security certificate, need to be modified.
• iDRAC settings are corrupted and you need to reset it to factory settings.

Chassis Management Controller (CMC) Firmware version 4.3 and later allow you to reset iDRAC remotely without rebooting or power cycling the server. This prevents system downtime.

You can use the CMC Web interface or RACADM to reset iDRACs on multiple servers with a single click or using a single command.
