After more time sitting, with the occasional attempt, it's now getting me to the 'set up the tablet' thing that comes after the 'backup and restore' opition. But it pops up:
and 'system UI' and 'chrome' have stopped working (they're under that pop up, if I hit ok a numerous amount of times). One of the times it restarted before it was able to get this far, it locked up on the flashing colors; it would not move at all. The power+down restore thing is still not working.
Since, there's no responses other than myself on this, I tried to email tech support. I put in my service tag, but it said it couldn't find anything. I've only had this thing since March
I've let it rest and not tried to do anything for a day or so to see if it'd help. Nope. I really need help with this. I am lost without my tablet. I need my tablet.
Tablet still doing the thing and still no word from any Dell people. I tried to get help through the Facebook form. It said "Message Dell technicians through Facebook and receive an answer within 1 business day" but I never got anything back. I checked my Facebook everyday, I checked my emails including junk folders....nothing. My family and I swore by Dell and have purchased many Dell devices. I think this and my boyfriend's tablet may be the last. I am severely dissapointed
I am facing same problem with my Dell Venue 7 3740 ......i bought Dell Venue 7 3740 From dell gallery on January 18, 2015 and give my tablet 3-4 times for repairing software and hardware in dell service center from date i bought ........ besides that from last repairing it is not even updating Dell Device whenever i go for update to my device dell venue 7 3740 it stuck in to booting and then show an error logo ........... I search every where that how recover or flash this device no certain and promising information is available on internet ..... This Android Device Dell Venue 7 3740 is not user friendly do not bye this type of JOKE Or Funny Device for Rs.15000 / - From well known company DELL .... Not expecting this type of foolish service from dell ...... i am fed up from dell ....... Do not bye dell Products
I am also facing similar problems with my Dell Venue 7 3730 (16GB WIFI only Model). Except in my case it does not boots up a single time. Let me know if you have found the solution.
Regretfully, I have a "similar" issue, and came here figuring I'd find some insight into resolving mine, only to find more folks with the same problem.
In my case, I bought a demo model from a "reputable", local electronics store a couple of days ago. While yes, I can take it back, I thought I'd take up the challenge first of trying to bring this thing back to life. So far, I've been unsuccessful, but, hopefully this might help some of you.
From experience with a different tablet, with the tablet off, if you hold the volume down button and power button simultaneously, the table will boot into a menu that allows for Droidboot and Recovery options, to name a couple. Using the volume up and down buttons, you can move to the item you desire. Upon highlighting the desired option, press the Power button to initiate that option.
My tablet boots to an Andriod laying on it's back, with a panel open, with an exclamation point above the panel and the words "No Command" beneath the Android.
Another regret is that the Service code has been rubbed off. I did call in and was able to speak with a Dell technician who advised that if I held the Volume Up and Power Button simultaneously, I should be able to get the Service Code. Unfortunately, my tablet doesn't produce this, HOWEVER, it now shows me the USB symbol with a bar under it. The bar alternates between Red and White. I'm "assuming" it's suggesting that I hook it up via the USB port to something I can either boot it from, or install the Operating System from. My system being an Andriod version, I don't have an Android Operating System to try to feed this thing, nor am I sure of what that symbol "REALLY" means.
Hopefully the data above helps someone and maybe the data provided gives someone the ability to help me.
From a specification perspective and price I paid for the unit, I'd like to keep it. But, I'm on the 15-day countdown to returning it.
Any help on what I can do to move to the next step with this USB image on-screen will be greatly appreciated.

I found this while trying to troubleshoot my Tablet. hope it helps.
Venue 7 (3730) or Venue 8 (3830) tablet may become unresponsive during Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) operating system upgrade
Dell has received reports of Venue 7 (3730) or Venue 8 (3830) tablets locking up during the Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) operating system upgrade.
Recovery steps
Follow these steps to recover your system:
System should recover and boot into the current update version of Android OS.
If the tablet fails to recover, contact Dell technical support for service on the tablet.
