Dell venue Pro 8 Paranoia!

So a few hours ago I bought a dell venue pro 8 and saw it shipped. It cost me $240 for a 64gb refurb,is this where all the broken port venues go?

I spent a couple of say looking around for any widespread issues,of course I found none......

Now I see that the micro AB cable breaks because dell made the sizing wrong? Then I see the venue 11 has it correct, which seems stupid.

So any foolproof way to not have the port not break?(Other than not connecting it wrong)

I mean is the problem the low quality connector used or is it the rectangular opening used?

Also seen some that it just randomly stopped charging.

Also can I "bend" the port from the top to make sure it won't go in the wrong way....... when connecting a micro b cable,to "match" it?

With that at-least I will be able tell it's going in wrong easily.

I based this all on the one I saw at a store and thought nothing about the rectangular charging port.....

One last thing. Does flash video play flawlessly and local video assuming you have the right codes.

Also for comparison I has the "Archos 9" or the "POS" as I called it.

That was years ago and I assume this can do better lol

It does?

I guess I'll see how it goes, when I put it on.

Does this have gorilla glass or just  regular screen.

The cable that comes with it is black (as are the one's I've bought).

BTW, I've read on other posts here, that using a screen protector makes the screen touch sensitivity issue worse.

I'm sure the regular readers are tired of me posting this, but, paint the back of every USB plug that you use on the tablet, white.  When you plug them in, be sure the black side is on the screen side, and the white side is on the back side.

If you plug it in right, it will snugly slide in.  IMHO, despite what others have said, it takes excessive force to jam it in the wrong way.  (Still no excuse for Dell not using a micro B socket).

While you are waiting for delivery, I suggest you buy or order a USB OTG cable/adapter.  You will need one to make any USB device, other than the charger work.

I also recommend that you get a regular run of the mill passive stylus.  Look for one in a Dollar type store.  All they are, are metal tubes with a conductive rubber tip.  A 99 Cent Store stylus works just as good as a $20 Staples stylus.  I couldn't use my tablet in Windows Desktop mode without one.

I got a $15 folio case, screen protector, and rubber stylus combo.

Just not sure if I can use a Nintendo DS style stylus with a hard tip.

I had a hard time pressing on smaller icons on desktop mode as well.

My archos 9,no matter how bad it was....... at least had a USB and stylus/holder.

Is the cable white? I will use your suggestion and make it painfully obvious which side goes up/in.
