Latitude 10 Pro - Camera no longer functions

Latitude 10, Windows 8 Pro

When trying to access Skype, Camera, or Lync, the apps crash when trying to initialize the camera.  When trying to start the Camera app, I get the camera logo and then it crashes back to Metro.  Lync functions normally until I try to access video, at which point the app crashes.  Skype will not fire up once you give it the okay to use the webcam.

Any ideas or folks with similar issues?  I received this tablet this past Friday and the camera worked on Day 1...but it's not working today.  A lot of updates have been installed between then and now and I do not know at what point it stopped working.

Anyone with similar problems?  I tried reinstalling the apps and that did not appear to make any difference.

Other than that, it's a great tablet.

Thanks!

Hey, looks like you were right on the money....  Here is my workaround:  Based on your info that the driver update A05 on Dell's site is the culprit, I did some digging and I found this site:  www.laptop-software.com/.../dell-latitude-10-windows-8-drivers  I downloaded A04 and told it to replace the drivers even though the ones installed were newer.  I rebooted, and bam...my camera works again in all applications.  This was definitely killed by the A05 drivers on Dell's support site now.

Mine did the exact same thing, and after two weeks of uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, removing the camera in Device Manager and having it redetect it, etc... and after all that, the only way I was able to fix mine was to restore the OS and NOT update the Intel all-in-one drivers from the Dell Support site after the restore. That updated driver package seems to be the culprit.

Ugh....definitely not what I want to hear.  No way around it except to do a restore?

I had the same problem.  It was corrected after updating the bios to A05

I currently have bios A06 installed on my latitude 10 tablet and camera does not work. I have the A04 bios but it is failing to load. What are my options to get the camera to work?

The fix for me was to re-install the driver pack from Dell.  I think it is called the system driver pack and it contains the drivers for both cameras.

Thank you. Once I updated the driver pack it worked.
