Problems with Dell Venue 8 Pro and Miracast
Haven't been able to get Miracast working with Netgear PTV3000 or Actiontec Screenbeam. Firmware is up to date. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Did you try to re-install the newest video and wifi drivers?
What I have also seen was that users connected to Miracast devices was search for new devices in device manager (the Miracast receiver must be on).

I just did a recovery without losing data and still not working. I did reinstall the wifi driver but on the support page there is no video driver listed. I tried searching for it on inte's site but am unable to find it.

My PTV3000 is on firmware 2.4.46 NP. My Venue 11 Pro is on Bios A07, Dell Wireless 1538 version 3.7.2.45425 date: 2/26/2014. Intel (R) HD Graphics version 10.18.10.3366 date 11/26/2013. I do not have a display driver for Miracast display devices nor do I have one for Software devices. When I navigate to charms>devices>projejct I only presented with options for PC Screen only, duplicate, extend, second screen only. There is no link to add a wireless display. Alternatively, when I go to charms>settings>change pc settings>pc and devices>display I only see one display, no other display is detected. Also if I got to charms>settings>change pc settings>pc and devices>devices my PTV3000 is not listed. If I select add a device, no new devices are found. My ptv3000 is on and connected my television, I have tested it with my Nexus 7 tablet which discovers and connects to the ptv3000 just fine. Also, I've checked my wireless settings on my venue 11 pro. I currently have "turn on network discovery" selected under my advanced sharing settings for my wireless network.

Hi, I think this Kickstarter is a a good alternative to Miracast. You can charge and use USB devices at the same time and also it has a video out and LAN etc. I hope this helps.

there are drivers that support Miracast now. However, no step-by-step guide that I could ever find. There is a site though with links to the drivers you'll need:

Hope this helps. I finally did get it working after working through the drivers.

Yesterday - in the middle of an hour-long PPT presentation - my DV8P decided that it no longer recognized the ASUS Miracast Dongle to which it was projecting. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the device, I tried rebooting the tablet - NOTHING. I then tested the ASUS with a Nexus 7 and it connected perfectly - so I'm assuming the issue resides in the DV8P - or in Win8.1.
Just tried it again (DV8P to ASUS Miracast Dongle) and although the Dongle recognizes that something is attempting to connect to it, the DV8P runs the connection dialogue for about 2 minutes and then says it's unable to connect.
Any thoughts?

Be warned, the dell cast dongle looks like it is not working for the Dell Venue 8 Pro yet. Support for windows is coming later.

The Netgear PTV3000 works fine as a Miracast.
Used it for months now, every working day, to make my Venue 8 Pro as my "main computer" and leaving my heavy bulky work laptop at home.
But Dell announced the dell cast dongle.

While the news article doesn't detail if this is a miracast dongle, it likely is.
