CIFS Permissions on Sub-folders
Hi
I am using Unity 400
Permissions and Shares are working perfectly fine but i want to set permissions to sub-folders for certain people to be admin of the directory and others as read only rights
Suppose
I have a following structure
Shared Folder = "College" (which will be reachable to everyone)
Under "College" Folder i have following sub folders
Courses = Available to all (Read Only)
Notes = Only Available to Program Heads
Exams = Only available to few guys with full access
Slides = Available to all but a user as admin from teachers
MMC allows me to set permissions to the main share only. How can i set permissions on individual sub folders
thanks

You can use Windows Explorer to set the permissions on your folder. Map the College share and then configure the sub-folder permissions as required.

Thats a biggest problem with Unity 400 that AD cannot see it as a local drive, it requires iscsi which is not included with it
Only way is to map it and the permissions are not effective via mapped drive

this is how Windows works
what do you mean with "permissions are not effective" ?
make sure you map the share as a drive as a user who is part of the Unity CIFS server local Administrators group.
you may get tricked by the fact that by default Windows uses the credentials that you used for logging into your system
Plus if you already have a CIFS connection to a CIFS server then all others connections use the same credentials by default
