I want to know if it is possible to do a SAN COPY from IBM Storagewize to EMC unity 300.

Where can I find san copy matrix and Unity matrix?

Thank you for your time.

No – Unity doesnt implement SANCOPY natively – it can act as a target though

For block replication from IBM to Unity I would suggest RecoverPoint or VPLEX

Or host based options include LVM, PPME or storage vMotion

Thanks Rainer for your answer.

One question more please, can use VPLEX virtual edition to migrate LUN block from IBM storewize to Unity?

Thanks,

I see that in the VPLEX Virtual edition matrix, there is no third party storage supported, only VNX:

Components

EMC Storage Systems a • EMC VNX5200/5400/5600/5800/7600/8000 b

                                        • EMC VNXe 3150/3300

Please check the picture.

Thanks,

Could you tell us what you found out and how you are planning to do the migration ?

Hi Rainer,

To migrate IBM STOREWIZE I can use:

  • Host Based LVM
  • VPLEX
  • RP
  • PPME

In my case I will do it using host Based tools. For example: For Vmware I will use storage vmotion.

For other application I will map the Unity LUN for host and the migration will be do it at the application level.
