How to generate the reports on VMax

Hi All,

We have different servers attached to the VMax. We are doing capacity reports manually like how much storage we attached for indidual servers.

Is there any option to automate this process. We need report like servername and how much storage attached.

Do you have Solutions Enabler installed on a Windows Server or UNIX? (I have a crude way of pulling this report - but has giving me accurate figures)

Han777:

This is what I generally do:

        # symaccess -sid 1234 list -type initiator    [Gives all the initator group details]

Once the Initiator Group information has been collected, you can run this command on each one of them:

       # symaccess -sid 3344 list devinfo -ig

You can run a "for in" or "while read" loop to automate it. Let me know if you need help in that. I can write something up for you.

Regards,

-Kennedy

Hi Kennedy,

Thank you so much for looking in to this.

We have around 200 servers attached to this array. so need to run the command 200 times?

Or do we have any script to automate this process? I really appreciate your help.

Mahesh,

We need the reports on VMax not on DMX. WE have SMC and Solution Enabler installed on Linux machine.

Hi,

If you have ECC and Storage scope implemented in your environment, You can generate automated reports from Storagescope.

you will need to script something, yes it will need to be run against each host if you want to track it at that level. SMC/SPA do not have long term trending functionality, ECC and StorageCope do but they are huge products that can do a lot more than just capacity trending.

Please let me know how to generate these reports thru ECC for DMX. We don't have installed Storage scope on this.
