Adding New Drives to VNXe 3200
We purchased a bunch of VNXe 3200 systems that came with 9 drives. All the drives are NL SAS drives with 2TB (1.8TB usable) and 7.2K speed.
They were then created into a storage pool with RAID 6 (6+2) to give us roughly 9.0TB os usable space and 1 hot spare.
Well now we went out and bought 3 more drive of the same part number/size/speed as the ones that came with it, but we are unable to add them to the existing storage pool and I am unable to change the RAID 6 setting to anything that will accept them.
Is the way forward to move all the data off the storage pool, delete/recreate the storage pool to include the new disks and then move the data back?
I know with other vendors we can add disks then add them to the already established aggregate.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To add them to the storage pool, the VNXe tries to adapt the initially chosen RAID 6 stripe width of 6+2.
RAID 6 only works with even number of disks, so you would at least need 4 new disks, so the VNXe can build a 2+2 raid group, which is not recommended.
Recommended number of disks for the expansion in your case is again 8 disks.
Alternatively you could delete the pool and build a new pool with 10 disk (and leave two as spares) or 12 Disks (and no spares), if you stay with RAID 6.
Supported RAID 6 stripe widths are 6+2, 8+2, 10+2, 14+2.
