Auto Tiering issue VNX5200 - Estimated Time keeps growing

I have a VNX 5200 with a pool that has a mix of LUNs (some have Dedup enabled but not all). The pool in question is using about 9TB of space total and is a mix of "Performance" and "Capacity" drives.

This issue I am seeing is that the Auto-Tiering is never catching up, the "Estimated Time for Data Relocation" keeps increasing and is now over 100 Hours!!

Data to Move Down = 836 GB

Data to Move up = 332 GB

Data to Move Within = 405 GB

Relocation Schedule is set for 13 hours a day...so at this rate it will never catch up.

Block ver = 05.33.009.5.155

File Ver = 8.1.9-155 (we don't use any file though, only block data as LUNs)

Why is the Auto-tiering not ever catching up but instead increasing in "Estimate Time for Data Relocation"? Has anyone else seen this issue?

Thanks

Matt

a) You have enough free space in pool?

b) Set Deduplication state on Pause for the time when relocation is running (from pool properties), you can resume it later on. There has been issues with dedup & relocate process poking each other and having data lock issues, which can keep building up.. this could help it reduce the relocation queue.

Agree with Sami here, dedup has a history of being problematic.
