you simply create a LUN, boot configuration is done on the host.

Sounds good. In UCS when you create a boot policy make sure to provide the SP WWNs as per the way they're connected to your fabrics (Eg SPA0, SPB1 to Fabric A - This will be your Primary Path & SPB0, SPA1 to fabric B  This will be your secondary path) Make sure maintain the LUN ID "0" zero which is by default.

Thank you

I just did that by changing the HLU number in storage group. Thanks for your response

Just create a LUN like you create any other LUN. While adding the LUN to the storage group you can manually make the HLU to'0' (Zero).

it does not have to be 0, it can be higher HLU as long as it gets selected in the BIOS of your HBA or Boot profile (Cisco UCS for example)

I recommend the document named "EMC host connectivity guide for windows" for your reference. Configuring EMC VNX series for boot from SAN see page 27, the chapter 2 describes the steps required to configure HBA card boot BIOS to allow an array-attached LUN to be used as a boot disk for server.

I believe you are able to find the answer from this document. If you feel my answer is helpful, please mark it as correct or helpful answer. This may help another customer. Thanks.

There's a button on your page (we can't see it) that you can click to mark your question "Answered" - that will change the status from "Not Answered" to "Answered"
