Hi Sathish,

I think you can try this document:

Thanks

Did you check the time-sync between both the systems ? Just recheck it & have a look at config once again.

You need to look at the data mover log with server_log – that usually has more details why a join failed

And

But the problem is the Data Mover is unable to even ping the
3 configured DNS:

[nasadmin@VNXcs01 ~]$ server_ping server_2 xx.xxx.xx.x

server_2 :

Error 6: server_2 : No such device or address

no answer from xx.xxx.xx.x

@ Rainer,

I have tried all ways. But no LUCK.

later i found some information from the network team. Xblades are in nativ Vlan 72. The if of the CIFS server is coming from VLAN 24. Can you tell if we need to change the VLAN / any suggestions are recommendations.

Nothing special here

A normal Windows server cannot join the domain either if it cannot reach a domain controller ….

The DC doesnt need to be on the same vlan as the CIFS server

BUT you need to have routing working so that you can talk to it and back

If you cant server_ping the DC and the DC cant ping the IP of the VNX CIFS server you cant join

Try to ping something on the same subnet as the CIFS server. If you can ping that but cannot ping anything outside of that subnet (i.e. DC) then you don't have a default gateway set up. Set up the default gateway by running this command: server_route server_2 -a default xx.xx.xx.xx

I worked with  Networks team and identified that, the NAS Data movers are in Native VLAN 72(layer 2 Network) where it can’t communicate to outside of the V-block network.   CIFS server is configured from VLAN 24. (gateway. 10.xxx.xx.3).

Is there any suggestions from you!!!!

I'm not sure I follow but you probably need to tag the VLAN when creating the interface for the CIFS server. Did you specify a VLAN ID when you create the interface?

i am not sure i understand your configuration but you need to make sure you can talk to your DNS/Domain controllers. How you accomplish that depends on your network configuration. If you use VLAN tagging, make sure both the ports on the switch and VNX datamovers are using the same VLAN id.

yeah, I did the same.

The main problem is MY DATA MOVER is  not communicating with gateway!!.....We are not sure Why. Any networking best practices we missed while configuring VNX VG8, that i am not aware!!!

you need to work with your network team and figure out what's going on, check your VLAN tagging (both VNX and switch), check LACP/FSN (if used).  Can you ping anything on the same subnet as interfaces assigned to VNX ?
