Unisphere/Navisphere - Package naming and start script name on *nix.

I've received several request from our Unix Administration team to contact EMC and have them change the package name and start script name for the Navisphere/Unisphere host agent.

The Solaris/Linux package name is "HOSTAGENT" and the start script created by the install is /etc/init.d/agent.

I understand the confusion and frustration of the Unix Administrators when they look at a list of installed packages and find something called "HOSTAGENT' - which provides no clues as to what is actually does or is for.  The same is true when looking at the start scripts on a host.

EMC, please repackage the Unisphere/Navisphere host agent so the package name is more descriptive (i.e. UNIHOSTAGENT) and the agent start script is also more descriptive (i.e. /etc/init.d/uniagent).

I would normally open a support case for a request like this, but I've been told that the packaging is the packaging and there is nothing to do.

you need to ask your local EMC TC to open an RFE (request for enhancement)
