Unisphere linux host agent not registering with VNX 5100 disk array after IP change

Dear All,

I am not able to register Linux  unisphere  host into the EMC VNX 5100 disk array after changing agent  binding to other port (and IP) on host.

After the change:

root> cat agentID.txt

tec-live-br1-ithrk5brsr1

10.119.242.250

root@ithrk5brsr1 # find / -name HostIdFile.txt

/var/log/HostIdFile.txt

After this change host is still not registered within the array.

Is it possible to debug agent on hosts side?

I used following debug options, but I did not notice any specific trace/debug output.

root> /opt/Unisphere/bin/hostagent -d 0 -l 0 -r /root/ -f /advdata/networker/nsradv/agent.config

Best regards,

You probably need to de-register the host on the array first, remove the hostID.txt file then reboot the host and let agent push the information to the array.

To de-register the host on the array, you'll need to move the host out of the Storage Group that the host is assigned to, then in the Initiators list for that host, select each path and click on De-register. Once the host has rebooted, check that the host is now registered on the array and if all paths are available, add the host back into the Storage Group.

Hello Glen,

Unfortunately this is not working for me.

Situation is as following now:

1) Unisphere  hostagent is up and running

root@ithrk5brsr1 # ps -ef | grep Unisphere | grep -v grep

root     18655     1  0 04:10 ?        00:00:00 /opt/Unisphere/bin/hostagent -f /etc/nsradv/agent.config

2) It's binding to the correct interface with 10.119.242.250

egrep 250 /etc/hosts

10.119.242.250  tec-live-br1-ithrk5brsr1                #generated for local OAM lan to make UB/his OAM agents happy

root@ithrk5brsr1 # cat /agentID.txt

tec-live-br1-ithrk5brsr1

10.119.242.250

VNX 5200 array SPs IPs are in the same network (10.119.242.251, 10.119.242.252).

Whatever I am doing (restart etc) , host agent  is not registering into the storage.

Is it possible somehow to debug the registration process on the hostagent and EMC side?

Are the host initiators logging into the array SP ports? In Unisphere you should see the initiators in the Host/Initiator's section. You can also go to Settings/Network, then select one of the SP ports that connect to the host, then use Ping to see if the connection is working.
