VDM and File System Replication

Hi

I have two vnx 5400 unified boxes at same site.its running one cifs server.now i created vdm Replication task and 4 file system replication task.its running now.

Primary one VDM W/R and File system W/R status.DR box VDM and File system R/O state.

What i need now,Do a fail over to DR box.both side cifs svr interfaces name same.replication completed. cifs server domain joined.

what are the steps for doing this fail over?

its possible to failover same cifs server ip?

please see the VNX Replicator manual under "Manage expected outages"

I you are unsure I would suggest to setup a test VDM and work out the steps before using on a production VDM

Failover same IP isnt implemented - client will get to know the new IP from DNS,broadcast and re-connect to the new IP

or you would have to do that manually

for one-time move see nas_migrate which will failover the IP

Thanks Rainer,

This are production.cant do testing.because all filesystems use.i can do failover to other side.but how to mount cifs server and user shares?

unless you are completely out of disk space it shouldnt be much work to setup a new VDM with new CIFS server plus a small file system for testing
