host grabs
Are "host grabs" a one-time script, or are there "host grabs" generated and stored somewhere where I can find the latest results?
I need to get these for AIX 5.3, AIX 6.1 and AIX 7.1 hosts.
Any tutorials out there?
Thanks....

Host grabs are on-time executions an EMC script. They provide data describing the host - the AIX OS, what patches are installed, which ODM files are present, HBA version/driver/firmware, etc. These files are used by EMC to understand what's needed in your environment to install, upgrade, validate and migrate servers from one array to the next.
You can get the appropriate grab utility by searching the Support site. Once you download the script, the ReadMe files have the details for installation and execution, as well as uploading the results. Your local TC or ASR can also assist you.
Let us know if this helps!

you can generate your own reports, upload the grab file and it will email you a very nice output.

Thanks for the help. When I run the script, I get: "There are too many levels of symbolic links to translate a path name." It does not create an output file.

Live chat is specific to individual products, this is more generic. You can select PowerPath for Unix and they might tranfer you to the queue that handles open systems utilities like emcgrab.

what version of emcgrab are you using ? I think the latest is 4.5.0, if that's what you are using it could be a bug and you might need to get in touch with support.

Yep - version 4.5.
Support told me to "Please open a chat with the Host team, they will be the appropriate team to resolve your issue." I have no idea how to do that...

Yes, I am logged in as "root" on an AIX 6.1 host.
