How's your ViPR download going?
EMC division president Amitabh Srivastava announced this ViPR software download with no time limit a week ago today and many of you have taken advantage of this opportunity to get your hands on EMC ViPR software-defined storage. Tell us about your experience.

How did the installation go?
- Straightforward OVA import in vSphere cluster.
Have you stepped through the how-to videos?
- Some
Where are you in the process?
- Installed controller , discovered 3x VMAX arrays, 2x CiscoMDS Fabrics and one vCenter, added individual hosts, attempted discovering Isilon (failed because of OneFS version not supported), created Tenant, Virtual Array, provisioned block storage to one host
What questions do you have?
- Best practices for implementing in environment that already has non-ViPR allocated storage
- What logs we can monitor for progress during discovery ?

Looks like you are making good progress!
- Best practices for implementing in environment that already has non-ViPR allocated storage
Have you explored "Discover Unmanaged Volumes" and "Ingest Unmanaged Volumes" services in the service catalog? They will let you bring any other LUNs already present in your environment under ViPR control.
- What logs we can monitor for progress during discovery ? You can look at the "controllersvc" service to see the discovery progress.
