Cannot install mcafee virus scan

I cannot install virus scan. I had it on my computer for a long time until it started not updating. I was told to uninstall and then reinstall but I cannot do so. I have been back and forth with mcafee for the past two weeks. I have removed spyare programs, altered IE settings, eliminated regsitry files attributed to mcafee, and performed many other steps to no avail. When I try to install, I reach the download dialog box but it then locks up and I get the yellow triangle with the exclamation point in the lower left corner which originally says "errors on page" but then switches to "Done" and the installation stops. I am trying this forum to see if anyone has any suggestions. Here is my hijack file. Thanks in advance.

Then what do you suggest using for virus protection? Mcafee is free through my comcast account.

dont upgrade to the new version of mcafee. it totally stinks. It slowed my system way down. For some reason mcafee puts on this system guard and other programs to let virus scan work along with it. When i used to sign on to aol 9,0 step 3 used to go right away to the welcome screen. now with mcafee newer version step 3 hangs for a couple of seconds longer then u sign on. If when u install the newer version of mcafee the icon will change. I also think the new mcafee install screen is black. I wish mcafee would of left its setup alone. Dont change anything. when u right click your icon and choose updates what does it say. does it say all up to date.

what kind of error message r u getting with mcafee.when u click update does it say mcafee is up to date or does a little screen come up saying yes or no. i would wait 2 or 3 days and try the update again. i know mcafee sometimes has hang ups in there system and the updates dont work. i pay them yearly 40 bucks to keep virus scan on my  dell systems.

Any and all help is appreciated. When I tried to update it would stop downloading. I don't remember the exact errors at this point because after about a week of that, I asked Mcafee tech support what to do and they emailed me that I should uninstall and then reinstall. That is where I am now about three weeks later and very frustrated.

I would suggest posting a new log, in a new thread.

thanks
