This bug in SpyBot S&D has now been fixed in the latest update of this software. However, if you're also sensibly using its companion, SpywareBlaster 3.2, there is a new bug in Spybot bring up a red warning for 'SearchForIt' which, if you have Spybot 'fix it' as a problem, will disable some protection in SpywareBlaster.
The DSO false alert bug is only "fixed" in the new beta version of Spybot. The current gold version 1.3 will still detect the DSO entries.
To stop the detections:
1) Make sure you have the latest version of SpyBot S&D installed (1.3.0.12). 2) Open SpyBot S&D, click on "Settings". 3) Click on "Ignore products". 4) Click on "All Products" tab 5) Scroll down list until you come to the "DSO Exploit" entry. 6) Put a check mark beside it. 7) Close SpyBot S&D.
Or you can do what I show on my webpage (older tutorial, but it works):
If I open SpyBot 1.3 and there is no "Settings" option, what am i doing wrong? I dont know how to tell whether i've loaded 1.3.0.12, since when i click on "about", all i get is the 1.3 description. I (obviously) also am getting the DSO exploit message with SpyBot, which i use along with ad-aware SE Personal.
