OK, I sent a PM because I felt that there was no need for the general public to be drawn a philosophy war between me and A-SAP. As anyone that has been following these forms for over a year is well aware, I am not your biggest fan not because of the work you do, which is commendable, but because of your, A-SAP’s, arrogance. I posted here because A-SAP on this thread has been recommending the use of trailware and shareware, without consideration being paid to those supplying the software. One of your members made a big issue of Ad-Aware dropping its support web site for the free version, that is arrogance, another member directly challenged right and an individual to post, since he, the poster, was not properly trained (what ever that means). That incident irritated me so much that I faxed two Vice Presidents at Dell headquarters, they responded by having an assistant call me to discuss the issue. Dell clearly stated to me that all those who post are equal and no non-Dell employee can stop anyone from posting. The thread was also removed, although I can not say whether it was done just by the moderator or at corporate direction. Now that I answered in my best Brooklynese, did you really want all this on an open thread?
My mom is from Brooklyn, went to High School at Lincoln High and hung out at Brighton and Manhattan Beach.
My cousin still lives there and is my favorite cousin of the whole batch I have and had.
Brooklyn has nothing to do with you, you have just choosen to carry this BackPack of ANGER with you in life.
First, I only posted my opinion of A-SAP because I was asked, my second post was a direct result of an A-SAP members question. Two, you are still not answering the question. Three, I went to high school in Brooklyn, Brooklyn Tech class of 1960.
I am a proud member of ASAP, and stand firm behind what it means
Now then,
Please tell me what shareware you are talking about.. I only know of 1 trialware program that I recommend:
TrojanHunter
Now, sometimes Kaparsky and Ewido AV is needed to fix a particular infection, but not as often
Secondly, shouldn't it be a GOOD thing for the companies of said products for us to recommend them? It add's more exposure to the program, and the OP might just continue to use the program. Besides, that is the point of shareware: to try something for free and see if you like it or not. There is NO obligation to buy something.
Congratulations, the first actual reply. I accept the concept of try before you buy, but how many times should something be tried until you do buy it. As an example, how many users are using WinZip, without buying it? I also note that you registered today and this is your first and as of now only post. Are you planning to staay around and help other or are you here to post to this thread?
1. I didn't join here just to reply to you... I just thought I'd check this site out and saw your post.
2. I hope I can answer a few logs. I am already helping out in 5-6 different forums right now, and I'm spread a little thin.
3. I dunno how much html code is allowed @ this site, so bear with me... lol
I accept the concept of try before you buy, but how many times should something be tried until you do buy it.
I don't understand. Are you suggesting that the helpers, such as myself, buy these programs? That makes no sense because I personally have alternative programs that I use.
That's a very good idea, believe it or not. ... :) - We need the numbers posted here (or pinned at the top of the forums); are they available publically via a weblink, or do we need to ask Dell for them? I'm sure there's quite a few things that many of us (Dell members) would like to complain about.
Reguarding A-SAP, if it were me, I would ask the founders and council, instead of the individual members (who can't always answer those types of answers, or try and justify who does what and why). If you need the link, just let me know.
It might also be a good idea to ask Dell personally, if they want members here, who are A-SAP affiliated, since the board, many times, appears to be a 'fighting' ground reguarding them when they openly post. If posting here to help others clean off there system, by someone who happens to be A-SAP affiliated causes a problem, then Dell themselves would need to let these guys know, so they won't constantly be made a target. Which is interesting, since i'm wondering if they know they board is being used to target a specific group of individuals.
Anyways, better run off and get back to breakfast.

Couple things:
@1. The reason people are upset with Adaware is this: Not because they closed the support forums, but the manner in which the forums were closed. lavasoft gave some fake answer about "upgrading" forums, and left everyone in the cold. No warning; no explination. The forum was just shut down. That lack of respect for the volunteers @ that support forum is what made people upset.
2. The reason we don't want people answering HJT logs is this: Unlike other scanners, it is INCREDIBLY easy to screw up a person's computer. That's becasue HJT doesn't distinct between right and wrong; legitimate items and spyware. It is imperitive that correct, and safe, advice is given. It's not like we are trying to convert people to ASAP members, but rather, just to make sure that ppl are qualified. How would you like someone installing a new sound card on your computer who doesn't know a molex connector from a berg connector, and a CPU from a video card?
I no longer have Dell's fax numbers, however you can easily find it by reading the last few pages of their current annual report. Use your favorite search engine to find the annual report.

Msgale, I got your PM, although why not reply to me here, why does it have to be private we can have an open debate cant we.
Anyway persoanlly I feel this is posted in the wrong room,
This is for HJT Logs not Virus/Spyware discussions, maybe this would be better in the Virus forum
