Hi


Let's look for, and delete, any program segments( prefetches) that might be present, and are associated with the ' problems' we're trying to remove from this system. To do this, let's:

1) Click " Start | Search", then search for each of these program's base name(s), in all files and folders:

setup.exe*
setupvse.exe*

2) Then if any are found in the ' prefetch' folder, delete them.

Look closely, since the ' base' name will have a bunch of random numbers and letters attached to it.


Run HiJackThis then:

1. Click " Config..."
2. Click " Misc Tools"
3. Click " Open Process manager"


Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate ( if present) and click on ( highlight) each of the following:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Network Associates\Common Framework\Current\VIRUSCAN8000\Install\0409\setup.exe
C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 80__________________________\setupvse.exe

Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click " Kill process". Now, click " Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain.

Run HiJackThis and click " Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click " Fix checked".

Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure your able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Network Associates\Common Framework\Current\VIRUSCAN8000\Install\0409\setup.exe

Note that some of these file(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're ' in use', try deleting them from " Safe Mode".

Reboot and post back a new log.

I did as described.

 

However, MS AntiSpyeware still finds trojan.intell32\.Here's the new log:

Please download, install, and update the NEW free version of Ewido trojan scanner:

  • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".

  • When you run ewido for the first time, you may get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.

  • From the main ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.

  • After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")

  • Click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on Complete System Scan. This scan can take quite a while to run.

  • If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. Select "clean" and check the boxes "Perform action with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" before clicking on OK.

  • When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file. Make sure you know where to find this file again.


Post the Ewido log and a new HJT log in this thread..

Not sure I understand what you mean.

The Trojan is found by MS Antispyware in the scanned registry keys.

This time around, it found it HKEY_Classes_ROOT\clsid\{357A87ED-3E5d-B334-DEB7EB4982A3, and lists it again as HKEY_Classes_ROOT\clsid\{357A87ED-3E5d-B334-DEB7EB4982A3 No 1.

Same as before.


That's all I get as "threat location" from this scan.

OK,
Now try scanning again with you program that picked it up. I need the exact file location. I don't see that CLSID number you gave me listed as any of the ones they found and killed.

Tried CCleaner, but after running it both in Normal Windows set up as well as in safe mode, MS AntiSpyware still detects trojan.intell32.

Ah. Rebooted, ran MS Antispyware once more, and this time it doesn't find anything!

Run smitrem.

It gives me a message tht it found and cleared the infection in C:\WINDOWS\system32\wininet.dll

When I run MS AnitSpyware again, it finds it again....

But when I run MWAV, this time, this file is not listed. Here's the new log:
