Help with computer problems
My computer is running really slow and will not reboot or restart or shut down without doing it manually it freezes up everytime. I also had a pop up about some DrWatson Postmortem Debugger and I never put it on here yet cannot find it to delete. Please help.

Show Hidden and System files:
Go to My Computer >Tools >Folder Options >View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing / visible. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files option.

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked".
Delete Temporary and Prefetch files
Now we need to delete temporary files and the Prefetch files where malware may be still hiding.
Click the “Start” button, then “RUN”
Enter cleanmgr in the “RUN” menu to start XP’s “Disk Cleanup” tool
Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are selected then click OK
Open C:\Windows\Prefetch\ Delete All files in this folder

You may not even need use this but I want you to be aware of this fix if for some reason you cannot connect to the Internet after rebooting.
Locate the Winsockxpfix.exe and double click and click Run.
The VB_WinFix Win 1.2 window will appear.

I went through all the steps you had me do. I was surpised at how much was on here that didn't need to be. I downloaded those programs and that adaware found 16 things and all were quarantine and deleted. I ran the virus scan and it showed my computer was clean. I did a new highjackthis for you to look at after I did all of the things you said to do. Yes, I use the pvr, personal voice recorder, for my home job. My internet is still running very slow. My sprint company was out working on the line and said to tell you that my dsl is running at 3.0 and that my computer is not keeping up with it. It didn't use to do this. It ran fine until around January or February. Over the weekend we did a back date or whatever it is called and reset the computer back to the way it was in March, but still nothing changed. My computer is still running very slow. I am still having major problems on some websites where I continue to get memory messages or error messages or of course the internet explorer must shut down. It's doing it about 3-5 times in a thirty minute interval more often now than before. I also keep getting these "beep beep" noises on my computer, and no it is not some virus program, it was doing that before I loaded the virus program I am now using. Dell told me it means there is something wrong, but what is the problem. My computer still freezes on the windows is shutting down page and still after following your directions will not restart or shut down without me manually doing it. It ran fine until around January or February. Over the weekend we did a back date or whatever it is called and reset the computer back to the way it was in March, but still nothing changed.
Please explain. You said it ran fine until around January or February, why was it reset to the way it was in March?
Were you hit with any viruses, worms, etc. back in January or February, before or after?
Have you added any hardware to the computer?
Reglook
Please download reglook.zip from http://attachments.techguy.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=43107
Extract the file
Locate Reglook.exe and double click to run.
I will need the Reglook.log
ADSspy
Download ADS-spy from http://downloads.subratam.org/adsspy.zip Once it is downloaded, extract it. Locate ADSSpy.exe and double click. Click “Scan the system for alternate data streams” and let it run. If it finds anything copy and post it for me to look at. We do not want to delete anything yet because it may be legitimate.

Update and install
Select Full Scan and let the scan complete. Please note that this scan takes awhile to complete so allow a few hours. On the tool bar go to File => Save the scan report.

I changed post above to run tool ADSspy instead of another tool. Just want to make sure that you got the change before you posted back.

O.K. The Trojan file detected nothing wrong. The ADSpy detected no alternate things. The Reglook I could not get to work. I kept hitting run but it didn't do anything. No I was not hit with any virus or spwyare that I know of. What I meant was the computer was running fine until about mid January or February and it started slowing down and messing up and not rebooting or shutting down. We were going to do it back to that point but the farthest it would go back was in March. I do not know why but that's it. I did everything you asked and still my computer is the same. Dell is sending me the XP disk so I can call and have them reload it or run it so hopefully it will fix the problems. In the meantime, if you have any more suggestions please let me know. Thanks,
