MacAfee Site Advisor & Windows 7

Me personally, I would get rid of MacAfee totally it does not protect your computer that well! Norton Internet security 2010 does a better job of protected computers. Because I had used MacAfee in the past, and it left behind a lot of virus, cookies, and spyware. To answer your question about the site advisor it's not needed that's way you have internet security software.

I also got rid of McAfee couple of years ago. I was happy with free Avast on my home computer running on Vista Ultimate 64bit OS.

I two days ago moved on to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. After learning from the forum here,I decided to give a try with the Microsoft security essentials [Free].

The family members are so much used to the McAfee's site advisor on the left top of the screen. My wife's strong instructions to my kids [Age 8 & 10] that no internet sites to be visited if the green tic is not found next to an internet browser search!! We got IE 8. Though the search results under MS security essentials displayed in green, it is the habbit !! not seeing the green tic or green baloon on the left top screen when visiting a site on the internet causing upset among members of my family!!

Well that said, We shall get used to without MacAfee site advisor, I hope.

Thanks for the response! I see you have install windows 7 on your new computer. My computer is only 7 months old now, and I do not qualified for the free windows 7 upgrade, I just found out by calling dell customer care! Which maybe someday I will upgrade. But I like windows vista Ultimate, and so far I had no problems. Yes I do agree it takes 1 minute for windows vista to boot up, I heft to admit. But I have a lot of programs on my computer that takes a lot of system resources. I probably will heft to upgrade my memory from 6GB to 8GB will soon! I don't know if you took notice but all the stores took windows vista off the shelves, wow!

Me personally, I don't like IE because it takes a lot of memory up. I use fire fox 3.5 version it's faster.

But my question is do you really see a difference in windows 7? If I do upgrade I would probably get windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

Now going back with the site advisor I think that all upcoming 2010 security software will include this feature but don't quote me! Norton security 2010 has the site feature. There again you may not have gotten the full version of your internet security. Just to let you know full versions cost more, but worth the extra cost. Norton internet security full version cost me $60.00 a year! I love the features of Norton. (Can't complain).

Hi Mike,

Your computer is much newer than mine. My MOBO will not support more than 4GB in RAM.
There is not much difference I noted between Vista Ultimate 64 bit and the Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit except for the OS install is much quicker and need not go through the Chipset, IMSM,Video drivers afterwards except for my Creative sound Blaster driver during the installation.

Also I found out after the windows 7 OS install, that the vista's 64 bit drivers for my Dell's wireless Blue tooth keyboard & Mouse & TEAC 13 in 1 card reader [R 149559 & R 176598 from Dell's Drivers & Downloads] not compatible. However the drivers came with the Windows 7 works well except certain knobs on my keyboard such as volume control is not recognised. I am not too botherd by that.

My windows 7 is retail version. Do I see any difference: yes in look and few different games. Also for some reason the windows Experience Index Base Score has gone up from 5.1 to 5.3. The improverment has shown under Processor.

Processor 5.3 [under vista 5.1]

RAM 5.5 [ under vista 5.4]

Graphics 5.9 [Under vista 5.8]

Gaming 5.7

Primary Hard Disc 5.9

Our internet experience in home environment is fabulous under VISTA as well as windows 7.

A bunch of guys are installing 8 Gigs of ram in the XPS 410/Dimension 9200 with positive results.
