McAfee PrivacyService and Oracle Apache.

I have installed Oracle on laptop. A couple of days before I installed McAfee Privacy Service on the machine. After restart, I was just playing on the machine and then all of a sudden I got a message that I am running low on disk space. Before restart, I had on 10 GB installed programs and 27 GB was empty.

Somehow, I figured out the problem. Oracle Apache was creating error log at tremendous speed (almost 100-200MB per second) and error log size was 27GB. I understood that it was "something" with McAfee Privacy service so I uninstalled it and removed the error log (because can not open to see what was going wrong) and restarted. So system came up and started running fine with proper disk space.

Now what was this "something" in McAfee Privacy Service that created this problem?

Hi TRex.  It's hard to say what Privacy Service might have been doing.  It is worth noting that unless you have children that will be using this computer to surf the net, you're much better off without it since *nasty* site blocking is what it is primarily intended for.  The only other feature that is has is pop-up blocking and the google toolbar is perhaps more effective than that and also has a box for instant access to the superior google search engine.

Hi BBlackie,

I have no internet connection and neither children. I am using library internet. What I have seen was like this:

When I saw the problem, I try to figure out what the wrong in the system is. But I could not find anything. I restarted it.

After restart, I show defragment process' "analyse" report and I found that Oracle's Apache has created error log of 27GB. I was in safe mode and then I deleted the error log and I restarted normally. Then again I went to same folder of error_log.txt and I saw the size increasing almost at the speed of 100-200MB per second. I immediately disabled the McAfee privacy service as only that thing installed before these things happened on my laptop and meanwhile the errorlog went to size of 1 GB. But after disabling it...the increment in the filesize stopped. That made me uninstalling McAfee Privacy Service.

May be because Apache is a webserver and was running as startup service and privacy service blocked it. Ideally Apache should run and it was not running because of privacy service and that might have made apache to create error logs. If so, apache has tremendous speed in writing error log....
