McAfee problem

Last week, I received a notice on my Security Center to update to the newest version of the security suite --which I did and everything worked fine.  I did not use that computer for a few days and now,when I try to get onto the internet or update anything, I get the following message:
"The web page you have requested has been blocked by McAfee because the main service is not running. Please contact your computer administrator to resolve this issue."
 I am the administrator.  What do I do?  I have tried to get it to work in Safe Mode, but to no avail.  My wireless connection seems to be fine.  My other Dell laptop computer is working fine (I was not able to update to the newest version on that one) and that is the computer on which I am sending this email.   I am not very computer literate, so pleased be very basic in your response.   I sincerely appreciate any help you can give me!   Thanks!!
