Regards: Adware.SAHAgent
Hey folks,
I have adware, spybot "search and destroy", hijack this, microsoft antispyware beta 1 and Norton Security. I use all the applications to search for adaware and malware and etc. What's baffling me is that only Norton keeps coming up with the Adaware.SAHAgent warning coming up that it's a security risk. I click on the link provided by Norton of course it's a data page explaining Adware.SAHAgent. I do a Virus scan and nothing, I scan using other software and also nothing. I even look in the registry for the entries that Norton explains and nothing. The option that Norton Antivirus gives me is to exclude the Adware.SAHAgent in further future scans, scan the system for security threats and of course last ignore for thirty minutes.
Any options could help, does anyone have any tricks up there sleeves.
Much mahalo,
Kris

Clean temporary files:

Scan here:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp
http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.php
Make sure to have the latest Ad-Aware and Spybot with updated definitions. Run both scans.
Run Spy Sweeper and CounterSpy (uninstall later if don't want to pay):

See the second link below for more information.
Good Luck!

This is not a virus nor a trojan. It is a direct-marketing adware application.
This kind of application generally comes bundled with another program, which usually discloses the fact that it is ad-supported. Users agree to have the Adware installed in the license agreement, although they may not realise at first that this file was packaged with the product they installed.
A file called Sahagent.log is dropped in C:\ and records all the visits to merchant websites. This data is recorded by ShopAtHomeSelect servers.
Two new keys are added to the registry:
Basically, Norton thinks it is malware but it really is not.
The fact of the matter is that there is a "free" program that was installed on the PC that this stuff was bundled with. It could be a file charing client, or some kind of free utility or game or screensaver that uses advertising support to be made "free" for download.
If Norton is the only thing that finds it and not the other anti-spyware apps that you use, then I would not worry about it. But if you insist on finding and removing that agent, keep in mind the likelyhood that the attendant program may no longer run or run properly.
Good luck!

Wellington

I've done everything to my abilities, I am beginning to think Norton has to update there data, reason being all antiadware programs I've downloaded so far hasn't picked it up besides Norton, I've spent countless hours in Regedit looking for the particular entries stated above and no luck I can't seem to find anything to VGroup. I haven't given up yet but just like I said only NOrton seems to be able to locate the adware programs... everything from adware.commonname, istbar, and etc...... I do agree might have downloaded a free software that it could have been attached it but that's going to take endless hours to find which one... hopefully i can remove the adware and then when I reboot the OS can give me an example thats missing any components.
wish me luck guys,
much mahalos,
