Without the cds its hard to restore the program. Did it come pre-loaded on your new computer? How long have you had it for?

If its the 90 day trial period then you might be out of luck. If you purchased a subscription for a year or more you should be able to download it off the McAfee site once you login with your account information.

But, if you uninstalled McAfee just recently try to restore your computer back to a previous state when you knew McAfee was on there. This can be done by using the System Restore utility in Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools. If you installed any other programs after the issue with McAfee it might remove it since its restoring the computer to a previous state. Although this shouldn't affect any personal data such as Pictures, MP3, spreadsheets. It will only touch the operating system and programs.

Yes, it was installed on my Dell when I got it a couple years ago.  I have a CD that says APPLICATION ALREADY INSTALLED ON YOUR COMPUTER For reinstalling Dell Tools System Software.  Contents:  Antivirus software  Support software  Multimedia software  Internet software.  Would that work so I could just choose the antivirus software or would it reinstall all that stuff?  I hate to go back because the other program did remove some stuff McAfee never even detected.  I loaded PC-cillin Internet Security 2006.  Thanks for any help!

Perfect! Just pop in the cd and navigate the cd-rom drive thru My Computer. Hopefully the antivirus folder should be labelled properly to atleast identify what the contents are. I wouldn't recommend re-installing everything, just the anti-virus.

If you have a valid subscription, you can reinstall McAfee from McAfee's site at no cost.  You must remove all old McAfee products completely by using the tools found at http://forums.mcafeehelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=71943.  Then go to www.McAfee.com .  Select "My Account," and download your product.  2 years ago, it would have been McAfee Security Suite 7.  You also can use the CD that has McAfee on it. but again, you must completely remove the previously installed product.

soonergal19,  There are two ways to get your McAfee back.  Before you start, the old programs must be completely removed.   Go to the McAfee forum site at http://forums.mcafeehelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=71943 . and run the removal tools.  If you have registered your McAfee or have paid for an update of your subscription, and it is not outdated, go to www.mcafee.com.  Open My Account, found on the right at the top of the page.  A list of your programs appears when you open My Account.  You will see that you may download the missing programs and then install them.  Be sure that the XP firewall is off and you have now removed the unliked programs.  Install your programs and allow them to update.  As an alternative, find the CD that may have come with your computer and reinstall McAfee from that.  Do not remove the old AV and Firewall until you are ready to do the install.
