Hello again. So I ran the software, and it did find a file which I told it to remove. The screen went blank for a while, then there was a message telling me there had been an error with reading a certain file. It then prompted me to reboot, which I clicked yes to and so rebooted. Started VundoFix again and the same happened. No when I run VundoFix, it finds nothing yet throughout the process my virus software is going crazy detecing the TR/Vundo.Gen thing. What do you think? Again thank you immensely for your time.

In addition to this information. I forgot to add that when I run VundoFix, it searches until it stops on gebcy.dll, where suddenly a 'detection' window will open through my antivirus software warning me of of gebcy.dll, and saying it is Trojan Horse TR/Vundo.Gen, yet VundoFix does not spot anything?!

Good job

We are going to run Vundofix again, but alter the instructions slightly
Run VundoFix again
  • At the Main window Rt Click in the Open Box and Select Add Files
  • A second window will open
  • Copy and paste the following into the blank boxes, one file path in each blank box.NOTE: There are 6 blank boxes. If there are more than 6 files to load. Then load 6
    Select Close window, then
At the Main window Rt Click in the Open Box and Select Add Files Again

    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\gebcy.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\ycbeg.*

Select Add Files ->> Repeat untill they are all loaded Then Close Window

  • Click the Remove Vundo button. Do not click the Scan for Vundo Button
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.

Hello again! So here are the lines I've singeled out for fixing. I don't see any use for any of these anymore, and I assume that the R1 line also indicates an internet or service provider. Anyway, thanks again for your immense help and advice. The computer is back to its glorious self, if not a little bit happier! :) R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.wanadoo.co.uk/iesearch/default.htm R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.wanadoo.co.uk R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = http=http://www-cache.freeserve.com:8080;ftp=http://www-cache.freeserve.com:8080 O8 - Extra context menu item: &eBay Search - res://C:\Program Files\eBay\eBay Toolbar2\eBayTb.dll/RCSearch.html O14 - IERESET.INF: START_PAGE_URL=http://www.wanadoo.co.uk O23 - Service: iPod Service - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe (file missing)

Yes you can. It would be advisable to list the lines you want to fix in Hijackhtis so I can look at them first beforehand.

How your PC running now?

You are most welcome. You may fix all of the entries you have listed except

O23 - Service: iPod Service - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe (file missing)

Which Hijackthis will not "Fix" this line by checking the entry, it takes a different proceedure to remove 023 lines. It would be better to uninstall the Application from Add or Remove programs.

So, as requested, a final log. Just a quick question. I noticed some things within the log that I certainly don't use anymore and was wondering if it is ok for me to get rid of these things, or whether that would be a bad idea. For example, I see a few things refering to 'wanadoo', which happens to be an internet provider based in the UK that I used for a very short while a couple of years ago. I now live in Germany and will never need to use them again.

Just a thought!

Anyway, here we go -
