Updates 6/17/13 - Sandboxie v4, EMET v4

Sandboxie Version 4.02:

Released on 17 June 2013.

( The following has been copied/pasted from http://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?VersionChanges#v_4_02 )

This release is a [major] redesign of the inner ["under the hood"] workings of Sandboxie which improves compatibility with current and future versions of Windows.

For a technical discussion, please see this forum post.

These are the changes to Sandboxie since version 3.76:

  • Full protection is offered on both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows.  The Experimental Protection feature, which enabled full protection on 64-bit Windows, is no longer needed, and was removed.
  • Improved compatibility with avast!, Driver Verifier, EMET, F-Secure, KeyScrambler, Lingoes, Listary, Norton Internet Security, Office 2013, PGP, Proxifier, ProxyCap, Solid Converter PDF, Windows 8.
  • Removed support for Windows 2000.  Service Pack 3 is required for use on Windows XP.

Thanks ky.

Just to add that current Sandboxie users can upgrade to 4.02 via the internal updater, which overwrites the previous version. It is suggested that you temporarily disable all security programs' real-time protection first. (AV, anti-malware, perhaps WinPatrol). No re-start required. Remember to re-enable all your security after.

Installation was quick and trouble-free on all my XP and Win7 systems using this method, as it always was with previous Sandboxie program updates for several years now. The alternative method of first uninstalling the old version, then downloading/running the latest installer takes quite a bit longer, but is always prudent.

For what it's worth, I updated Sandboxie (over the existing version, via the internal updater) without temporarily disabling any of my other security programs... and all seemed to go well.
