security and provacy settings

Today I wanted to subscribe to a magazine online but got an error message saying I needed to change my settings to accept cookies from the site. Went into options and overroda cookie settings and went back into site and am still getting the error. I did restart my computer. What else do I need to do? This is also happening on a particular message board I visit. It makes me sign in EVERY time I go there which is so very frustrating and it says it is because of my cookie settings yet even when I change them to allow the site I STILL get the same message. Maybe I need to do something with my mcaffee also?? Thanks.

Hi nucleusgirl, Assuming you have IE 6.0, the proceedure I use is open IE, choose Tools, Internet Options, Privacy tab, edit at the bottom, then type the address of the site whose cookies you wish to allow (or block) then click on OK.  Then make sure you APPLY  and OK your way out.  You might want to delete temp internet cookies and temp internet files.  This should allow the site to install their cookie.  Hope this helps,
McAfee AV should not have anything to do with your cookie policy, unless you have more installed by them than AV protection.  Hope this helps.

Thanks...pskelley

Thanks PSKELLEY but nope it didn't work. Did what you said but still got the following error: We're sorry, a problem has occurred.

Perhaps you have a firewall stopping some cookies?

Post a Hijackthis log and we might be able to help.

Turn off your firewall temporarily when accessing a safe site that requires cookies...they won't let you in otherwise. I'm not the world's greatest cookie expert so others like Derf may have better advice for altering the firewall to allow some cookies through.
