-Print this off so you can follow it

Be sure to look this solution over before you begin.

Go to www.trendmicro.com, and then:

1. Click " Free Online Scan".
2. Click " Scan now, it's free".

It'll take a few minutes to download (especially with a dialup connection), so be patient. When it's down:

1. Select all available drives.
2. Check(tick) " Auto Clean".
3. Click " Scan".

When it completes, post back the full filename of any files that cannot be cleaned or deleted.

Let's look for, and delete, any program segments( prefetches) that might be present, and are associated with the ' problems' we're trying to remove from this system. To do this, let's:

1) Click " Start | Search", then search for each of these program's base name(s), in all files and folders:

      audpp.exe*
      admml.exe*
      CxtPls.exe*

2) Then if any are found in the ' prefetch' folder, delete them.

Look closely, since the ' base' name will have a bunch of random numbers and letters attached to it.

Go to Add/Remove programs and remove(uninstall) the following, if present:

Viewpoint Manager

The above could appear anywhere within the entry. Be careful not to remove any personal or system software.

Run HiJackThis then:

1. Click " Config..."
2. Click " Misc Tools"
3. Click " Open Process manager"

Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate ( if present) and click on ( highlight) each of the following:

    C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\audpp.exe
    C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate\AutoUpdate.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\admml.exe
    C:\Program Files\Aprps\CxtPls.exe

Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click " Kill process". Now, click " Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain.

Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click " Fix checked".

Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure your able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

Note that some of these file(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're ' in use', try deleting them from " Safe Mode".

Then, as an added precaution, Go to Start > Run and type: cleanmgr and then click OK. Make sure the boxes for these are checked:

Hello Bertha2 following your suggestion I  booted up in the safe mode and then searched for audpp.exe. I found 6 files: One that I had deleted (now in residence in the recycle bin) and 5 others. I tried to delete the remaining files but was notified that I didn't have the source disk or file. Then I searched for autoupdate.exe and found 5 other autoupdate.exe but could not delete them for the same reason. What am i doing wrong? One more thing: when i attempted to run clean disk manager. Set to run, the message read "this may take a few minute" i waited but nothing moved beyond the first two or three bars. I turned off teh monitor and went to bed. In the morning the bars were exactly where they were when i went to bed.Please advise.

Let's continue on with the fix...   Run HiJackThis and click ' Scan', then check(tick) the following, if present: O23 - Service: hxqsoahyqjif (asihnbfi5) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\System32\wjzsppok5.exe (file missing) Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click ' Fix checked'. Click Start Run Type in services.msc Click Enter Scroll down Double-click on the service hxqsoahyqjif (asihnbfi5) Click Stop and then set the Startup Type to Disabled. In the next step we are going to remove the Service from Registry. Remember to tell victims that it may not be there. Click Start Run type in regedit Click enter. In left pane of registry editor, Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\hxqsoahyqjif (asihnbfi5) If Service Name exists , right click on it and choose Delete from the menu. Now navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_ hxqsoahyqjif (asihnbfi5) If hxqsoahyqjif (asihnbfi5)  exists then right click on it and choose Delete from the menu. If you have trouble deleting a key. Then click once on the key name to highlight it and click on the Permission menu option under Security or Edit. Then Uncheck 'Allow inheritible permissions' and press copy. Then click on everyone and put a checkmark in 'full control'. Then press apply and ok and attempt to delete the key again. Bertha2 following your instructions I entered the file names to be removed both times before restarting. clicking on restart the following message displayed: PendingFileRenameOperations registry Data has been removed by external process. No, Indeed not. The problem seems to be taken care of. I remarked to my daughter as I logged on to check for your reply to my last posting that the computer is not laboring. Response time is so much faster!! I have been using spybot and adware regularly. I have limited administrative rights and requested that any downloads considered must be discussed before initiating. Could you suggest any other steps that I must take to avoid similar problems in the future.

A great heart felt thanks for your expertise and time spent helping, guiding and supporting me in this effort to remove the malware problem from my system.

This is my normal post for when you are clear - which you now are - or seem to be. Please advise of any problems you still have :-

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

Disable and Enable System Restore. - If you are using Windows ME or XP then you should disable and re-enable system restore to make sure there are no infected files found in a restore point.

Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:
From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
Click once on the Security tab
Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
Click once on the Custom Level button.
2. Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
3. Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
4. Change the Initialise and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
5. Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
6. Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
7. Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
8. When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
9. If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
11. Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.

15. Update your Anti Virus Software - It is imperitive that you update your Anti virus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your anti virus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.

This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. 21. Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Install and download Spybot - Search and Destroy with its TeaTimer option.
