No input devices found (microphone)

After latest Windows 10 update (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/may-11-2021-kb5003173-os-builds-19041-985-19042-985-and-19043-985-2824ace2-eabe-4c3c-8a49-06e249f52527) I cannot see any input devices.

Microsoft Windows 10 Pro (x64) v10.0.19042

Dell Update tool reports: Audio driver is "Realtek(R) Audio 6.0.8984.1" but I also see "Realtek(R) Audio 6.0.9147.1" in Programs and Features.

When I download and install "Realtek-High-Definition-Audio-Driver_6CCVY_WIN_6.0.9147.1_A18.EXE" Windows cannot start (no boot issue but OS doesn't start, I've waited 30 minutes) hence I had to reset my PC to before Windows update, then microphone was there.

Then I've updated the Realtek driver again and have the same issue, OS doesn't start.

I reset my PC to factory settings, installed OS and everything from scratch, microphone was working, installed all the windows updates and again I see no input device.

Also tried Support Assist, but it doesn't see the device:

All I can find on internet is "try to reboot your pc, uninstall & install audio the driver (which makes my pc unusable), give permission to mic. on windows settings, find the device on device manager" etc. which none of them works for me.

Appreciate for any help.

Show Hidden Devices shows the driver (its name is High Definition Audio Device, no "Realtek" in its title, but may be they are same)

But still I cannot see the devices under Sound settings: (both Playback and Recording is empty)

How do you uninstall drivers?

And how do you reinstall the correct driver?

I found the Realtek installation on Programs and Features as Realtek Audio Driver, and uninstalled there.

The version was 6.0.9147.1.

Then I find the previous version on Dell's web site, it was https://www.dell.com/support/home/tr-tr/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=xf4rr in my case.

You can go to that web site find your version and then go to all downloads and find the previous one.

I also disabled Windows updates for 1 month to prevent auto update.

Thank you so much for being humble enough to share this with the community. I have been facing the same issue for the last 3 days and finally, for you, it's solved. Dell should immediately rectify the error in its Realtek-High-Definition-Audio-Driver_6CCVY_WIN_6.0.9147.1_A18.EXE (Latest version).

Thank you.

I tried to get the older driver, but it's not available on the site.  Dell support just did remote desktop, and to get the older driver they did the same thing- just went to the support site, and tried to download it... but there are no older drivers available.

My sound card disappeared - I uninstalled / reinstalled, speakers came back, but no microphone... right when I actually have an urgent project that requires microphone.

Dell's tech says to wipe my OS and reinstall--- I don't have an entire day to waste doing that... My project is urgent.  Seems much faster to try that older driver, but they are not being very helpful.

@Ori Bengal I still can access to older version of the driver, I hope it works for you:

I don't know what was your original case - but I just faced a similar problem with a new Latitude 7430. So in my OS there was no input devices available

When I went to System -> Sound -> All sound devices  I found there microphone but somehow the device was not allowed. So I clicked Allow button and Microphone appeared and started working.

So may be someone will have a similar confusing situation.
