Warranty void on RAM upgrade?

Greetings!

Really sorry if this is a stupid or repeated question.

I recently got a new Vostro 3401 with 4gigs of ram. I was just wondering that if I upgrade the RAM on my own, would the warranty be void?

I do understand that Dell wont cover the new RAM stick under their warranty, they have no reason to, but will the old system warranty be void too?
