C: partition says encrypted by Bitlocker on Windows 10 Pro

Tried to clone the SSD to an external spare same sized SSD stick, but couldn't because Windows Disk Management says it's encrypted by Bitlocker. This is a Dell delivered laptop, new. How do I unencrypt the C partition so I can clone the SSD? This is a Vostro 15 5510 laptop. When I set up the user accounts I did NOT log into any account to do so.

I also suggest you set up a Microsoft account for that pc once you're up and running...

IF C: drive partition is encrypted by Bitlocker, in CMD window use command, manage-bde -off  C: , assuming C: is your primary boot drive,  then wait for decryption to complete by checking status with cmd:  manage-bde -status

Yes you can run this command only if you are in the operating system which is running from Same Hard drive/SSD. If you try to run this command (manager BDE off) on the secondary drive it will ask for your Bit Locker key

Reason you had to do this : Your machine is equipped with a TPM/PTT chip which is why windows encrypts the hard drive. This will become a permanent thing with windows 11 as Microsoft has made TPM 2.0 as a mandatory requirement
