Dell Inspiron 5567, HDMI and Windows Fall Creator Edition

Hi,

I have recently been pushed the Windows 10 Fall Creator Edition (Build 1709) and after installation I cannot get any HDMI output (connected to an Acer S240HL screen) - I see an "input not suppoorted" message on the Acer monitor. If I roll back to a pre-1709 build the display works.

I have the Intel HD 620 Video driver 22.20.16.4799 installed, although I also rolled this back to the current version on the Dell site (Intel-HD-Graphics-Driver_1H6KX_WIN_21.20.16.4627_A04.exe) before a second attempt at a reinstallation of Fall Creator.

Has anyone seen anything similar, or a workaround?

mmelbourne,

Reinstall/update the video card drivers once you have the Fall Creators Update installed. Also, if there are any drivers for the Acer monitor you can reinstall them as well after the update

Thanks for the suggestion!

I tried reinstalling after the Fall Creators Update to no avail. Acer monitor drivers should not be required.

It seems the answer may be here:

downloadcenter.intel.com/.../Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-60-

The 15.60 update (23.20.16.4849) "...enables the Microsoft Windows® 10 Fall Creators Update...".

Not sure if Dell will be repackaging this driver? I have had limited success in attempting to install Intel drivers on Dell hardware, even from the Zip, but this is a recent release (7th Nov).

I installed 23.20.16.4849 from the Intel zip (install via "Let me pick" and the "Have Disk" option when updating the driver in Device Manager). However, the installation of Fall Creators decided to stomp over this and install/downgrade to 22.20.16.4799. I reinstalled 4849 again manually after installation and now this has fixed the issue.

Dell Inspiron 5567, Windows 10 Home, x64.

To continue on mmelbourne's suggestions.

I got the same problem here. This is the 1st time in my life that I got a HDMI failure after a Windows update, in this case the Windows 10 Fall Creator Edition. New HDMI better cable did not fix the issue.

Afterwards, I did not uninstall this update. Instead, I downloaded from the Intel website the latest driver for Intel HD Graphics 620 <downloadcenter.intel.com/.../Intel-HD-Graphics-620>.

Latest Driver as of 2017-12-17 =  Version 15.60.01.4877 (Latest) - Build Date 12/7/2017 - 319.15 MB.

Make sure you download the zip file (not the exe file).

Unzip the zip file say at C:\Location...or any other sub-folder of your choice.

Go to control panel > look for device manager.

Look for and right click sur Intel HD Graphics 620.

Click on Update driver > Browse by Computer...> Let me pick from a list...> Have disk...>

then browse to C:\Location\Graphics\

click ok > ok.

From the popup menu, select Intel HD Graphics 620, then click Install.

You may get a caution screen saying that this driver has not been tested for  your hardware or may not be compatible with your hardware ... just click ok.

Once install done, restart PC so that new graphics drivers can take effect. From now on, HDMI should be working. At least for me it was.
