Dell Webcam Central Not Working on Windows 10

Hi,

After updating my Dell XPS 14z to Windows 10, most everything is working well.  I noticed this morning that Dell Webcam Central (I have Version 1, not Version 2) no longer works.

The program is installed but when I open it nothing happens.  A small icon shows up in the bottom right notification area for a second but it disappears before I can click it.

The camera itself is fine as I can still use Skype for video so I believe it's just the software application.

I can't seem to find an installation package for a reinstall.  I also uninstalled the "integrated webcam" drivers via the device manager and let Windows 10 reinstall them but that didn't help.

At the link below are the Dell WebCam Central FAQ's for Windows 10 and other Operating Systems.

Hi Jesse,

I have been to that page, but I don't see much in the way of problems with the Webcam Central software.  As mentioned, I let Windows 10 reinstall the webcam drivers directly.  It does say that if there is still an issue to reinstall the webcam software but seeing as I can't find a safe download of Webcam Central I cannot do the reinstall.

Also, the webcam itself is fine as I have no issues with it on Skype.

derekf66,

Click the link below to download the latest version of WebCam Central. There may be a conflict with the software using Skype.

Hi Jesse,

I've been through this before with another representative.  I cannot access the portal you linked me to.  The other representative (Ravi I believe) said it's because my Dell XPS 14z is no longer supported.  I get an error along the lines of "your device cannot be registered".

At this point, I've accepted that webcam central isn't working and have begun using the built-in Windows 10 Camera app which works for what I need it for.

I'm not sure why Dell can't just list all the software downloads in the "Drivers and Downloads" section of your website for each specific model like most other companies do.

Jesse, on my laptop it doesn't give me any error, but does not list anything for me either.  I clicked the check box, and clicked Register >, but nothing happens.

Very frustrating as my webcam is 0% operation at this point.

I'm just going to start downloading any Webcam app I can, to see if they can work.
