Don't have permission to view files on camera memory card

When I insert a memory card from a camera and try to open one of the jpegs, I am told I do not have permission to view the files. I was told this is a software issue. I have an administrator account on my laptop so I should be able to view all files. Does anyone know how to resolve this?
