richardlogan485,

Apologies for you not being able to install AVG in Windows 10. I suggest you click the link below and try the information listed on AVG forum. It seems many users are having the same issue. If you have Windows Defender on try turning it off and then try installing AVG.

According AVG supports,

If you have already successfully upgraded to Windows 10
And now can not install AVG
Firstly, you have to uninstall the existing copy of AVG
Follow the instructions for Windows 10 to uninstall AVG:
  1. In the system search field, type Control Panel and select Control Panelfrom the list.
  2. Go to Programs > Programs and Features.
  3. Right-click AVG in the list of programs and select Uninstall to open the AVG uninstallation wizard.
Note: In case you have other versions of AVG installed on your PC (e.g. AVG Protection, AVG PC TuneUP), uninstall them first.
  4. Follow the instructions on your screen to complete the uninstallation.
  5. Restart your PC.
And then install a copy of AVG compatible with Windows 10

AVG 2013, AVG 2014 and AVG 2015 are compatible with Windows 10. However, there will be a major update released in February and these versions of AVG might not be migrated due to performance requirements introduced by Microsoft. If you wish to continue using AVG 2013, AVG 2014 or AVG 2015 with Windows 10, you can install them again once the Windows 10 update is installed. We would however recommend to upgrade your AVG product to the latest version before you install the Windows 10 update by following the steps below:

  1. Download and run the installation package.
  2. The installation dialogue will ask for a license number. As long as your current license number has not expired yet, you can use it to activate the new installation.
