Hi,

I have the same laptop model as yours, and I recently upgraded it from Windows 7 Professional 64 bit to Windows 10 Pro 64 bit. I had the same warning you are getting regarding the Broadcom Virtual Wireless Adapter prior to the upgrade process, but I decided to do it anyway. Suprisingly, the driver was detected immediately after W10 finished installing and I'm able to connect to the internet without any issues.

However, the audio driver seems to cause W10 to freeze while watching YouTube videos, but disabling the driver's services seems to solve the problem, for me at least. Other than that, I'm really enjoying Windows 10 on this laptop, give it a try! If you don't like it, there is an option to rollback to Windows 7, but only for the first 30 days I believe.

Just for reference, my laptop specs are the following:

  • Model: Dell Inspiron N4030
  • Motherboard model: 0K13WN
  • Processor: Intel Core i3 @ 2.53 GHz
  • RAM: 4 GB
  • HDD: 500 GB 5400 RPM
  • Graphics: Intel HD Graphics

Hope this helps!

My Dell N4030 has a 2.13 Ghz Intel dual core processor.

6 gigs of ram

320 gb hard drive of which less than 63 gigs have been used.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1

Now according to Microsoft my computer is ready for Windows 10 except for my Broadcom Virtual Wireless adapter. Out of curiousity I disabled that Wireless adapter and I was still able to connect to the internet.

I called Dell to see if there was an update for the Broadcom Virtual Wireless Adaper and apparently there is not, I then gave the person my computers service tag and he told me that my computer would not run Windows 10 properly because of some hardware issues. I know that Microsoft will continue there support for Windows 7 till 2020 but there support for IE ends Jan. 2016. I am running IE 11 and Google Chrome and I also know Microsoft Edge browser will not run on Windows 7 so I either move up to Windows 10 or stay with Windows 7 and use only Google Chrome as I HATE Firefox.

What I am really trying to figure out is this............who is right, is Microsoft right in that my computer will run Windows 10, is Dell right in that it will not run Windows 10 or is Dell trying to sell me a new Windows 10 computer which is so far out of my price range that it might as well be on the farside of the galaxy.

If anyone knows PLEASE let me know.

Your computer is not on the Inspiron laptop or desktop lists in...

How Do I Know If My Computer Qualifies For The Windows 10 Upgrade

Also, you've got the testimony in this thread of some with your machine who did it. And you, yourself, know you don't need that driver. Nevertheless, it pays to be cautious & make a system image first, considering there have been quite horrid experiences with the upgrade elsewhere in many a newsgroup (not necessarily with your computer model).
