Problem with Notepad default encoding
Hi folks,
Yesterday I successfully updated my Inspiron 3650 to Windows 1903 Build 18362.295. Everything seems o.k. except that I can't get Notepad to save as ANSI format.
Also, my files made with the old Notepad display some characters incorrectly (em dash, for example).
Using the command prompt, I have found that the active code page for the machine is 437.
Using Notepad++ with ANSi displays my files normally, but I would like to keep using Notepad if possible.
I sure would appreciate some help with this.

This is not a dell issue.

I resolved the problem by rolling back the Windows build update.
Even though this was an issue caused by Windows, it wasn't strictly a hardware problem either.
I think it would be good if there were a place in the Dell Community for keeping track of such things.
For example, with my other computer, a Dell Inspiron laptop purchased a year later than the one in question, the build update to 1903 caused no problems. Perhaps a compatability / issue / solution chart culd be kept that those having update issues could consult?
My two cents. Thanks for your attention to Dell user concerns.
