Too Many Updates

Is there a reason why my new Dell XPS-13 is constantly being hijacked by incessant updates? I mean, seriously, how many updates does this laptop need?

I agree! Three Dell products here and they go through updates EVERY time they’re used! Inconvenient and frustrating.

Microsoft releases them all the time. You are NEVER done with this.

1803 was force updated to 1809 then theres a rollup and it goes to 1903

Current "Feature Update is 1909"

This has nothing whatsoever to do with Dell. Its microsoft's issue.  1709 is going to be end of life soon.

Version 1507
Version 1511 (November Update)
Version 1607 (Anniversary Update)
Version 1703 (Creators Update)
Version 1709 (Fall Creators Update)
Version 1803 (April 2018 Update)
Version 1809 (October 2018 Update)
Version 1903 (May 2019 Update)
Version 1909 (November 2019 Update)

I am constantly getting asked to update and when I do, 2-3 days later I get more request.  Why is this happening and why so many?

Updates happen all the time.  Antivirus signatures can be updated many times per day.  This will never end.

I have two newer Dell computers and both of them want to update every time I turn on the Dell XPS computer. My older Dell computer does not nor does my Boss' computer that is the same age computer (only 3 months older) as my computers.

Unless you are running the Long Term Support version of windows on an enterprise updates are no longer optional.

You MUST update when Microsoft Says you need to.

Windows 10, updates are automatically downloaded and installed except on metered connections.

Windows 10 will automatically check for new Windows Updates every time you go online.

Windows 10 will automatically download and install important and critical updates by default.

Sorry. No. This is not microsoft. This is not the we will update your system when you shut down in the lower left corner. This is a little window on the right side popping in to tell us that there are Dell updates ready to install. I get 2 -3 a day. I'm wondering if it is spam or a virus. Every update needs a reboot. I can't believe Dell has to send that many updates.

Yep! 2022 and I still have this annoying problem. Constant updates not from windows but from Dell command centre. My wifi keeps turning off and I usually updating this or windows updates works. But I am about to trash this laptop, it was chosen by university

You can disable the windows update. For this go to service < windows update < disable the startup type.
