Win 10 not supported on Latitude E5420 and E6420 notebooks (processor not supported error) ...
Be careful to look at Dell supported systems for Win 10. If your system is NOT listed the upgrade will not be supported. Attempting to upgrade a E5420 system (I7 sandy bridge processor) failed with a processor not supported error (NX not supported). This is undoubtedly a BIOS issue and simply shows that Dell is limiting systems that it will support for the upgrade. If your business has some of these 2011 based systems be aware that Win10 support will never be coming.

I hope this is not the case. I just recently purchased an e5420 on dellrefurbished and was planning on upgrading to windows. If not I will have words with dell as I am a loyal customer and have three newer dell computers in my house

Please don't make blanket statements that if dell doesn't support a machine for win 10 that it won't upgrade. I have three old Dells (see my list below) that are not supported by Dell that upgraded easily. The D9100 was also not supported by Microsoft. The best thing to do is search Dell forums and the web to see what others have experienced.

Hi I have Windows 10 pro software & want to install it on Dell Latitude E6420 and Dell website is saying 6420 is not tested for win10. What should I do here. why E6420 is not tested when every other model is tested in this category. "Dell is not testing or developing Windows 10 drivers for this product. If you choose to upgrade, some features, applications, and connected devices may not work as expected."

Windows 10 was installed on mine but the subsequent issues are: microphone won’t work and the dvd player like windows player software won’t play. I had to get a mini usb mine and download 3rd party player software such as vlc. I bought the computer in 2019 but apparently it was already ancient and I was explained by a customer service representative that they can’t help me in any way.
